Ankeny Baptist’s outdoor ministries introduce people to the wonders of God’s creation while teaching teamwork and self-confidence. And, of course, we have a great time hiking and telling stories around the campfire in some of America’s most breathtaking country!
Our signature activities are annual backpacking trips to the Utah canyon country. Recent destinations have included the canyons of Utah's Escalante River and Wyoming's Cloud Peak Wilderness. While in the backcountry, we study local history and wildlife, learnoutdoor skills and spend time daily reading and discussing lessons from God’s Word. The weeklong trips are open to both beginners and experienced campers, and we’ve been pleased to have a few guests of
ABC members along on each adventure.
We also hold a trap shoot each October and canoe trips for various Sunday School groups. Many of our members also participate in the daylong Sportsman’s Adventure held each year with seminars for hunters and anglers.
