Family:
Married to Debbie Horton, 33 years and going strong!
Debbie loves to sing, keep the choir organized, is an excellent helper and hospitality coordinator both at home and church
. She delights in reading (the end) of mystery novels, needlepoint and cross stitch, and dotes terribly on Victoria & Alex.
Three grown children, Elisabeth (and husband Brian) Jeffords, Rebekah, and David Andrew (and wife Jessica)
2 beautiful grandchildren: Victoria Grace Jeffords (3-years-old), and Alexander Jeffords (6-months-old)
Interests: all kinds of athletics; singing and playing the euphonium; reading; running; NY Yankees & Iowa Hawkeyes
Odd facts:
- “I love to clean (got that from my Grandma Brown and Mom!), and love to read newspapers and root for the New York Yankees!”
- “I own at least a dozen pair of running shoes.”
- “No hair, but still handsome (well, at least I’m thin!).”
- The last year and half I've joined the Drake University Community Chorale led by Dr. Amiee Beckman-Collier, and it's a blast with great opportunities to become a better musician, build relationships with people in the community and share Christ with them!
- “I’m currently reading Essential Virtues by JIm Berg, Desiring God by John Piper, and Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball's Last Hero by David Maraniss."
- “Debbie & I were next door neighbors as teenagers. We didn’t start dating until college. We celebrated 33 years of marriage this past May and still love each other!”
- "I've run three half-marathons, but have resisted my brother Paul's urging to run a marathon with him. "
- “We finished 10 years of ministry here at ABC this past August, and look forward to many more years of ministry here as God's leads."
Life Goal: to have my garage in order, the ironing all done and my stack of books read!
Seriously…after 33 years of ministry to continue to add to my faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love (2 Peter 1:5-7), to be truly fruitful in life and service for Christ!

To give godly, spiritual leadership to our church family.
To be a model disciple and disciplemaker.
To preach and teach God’s Word faithfully.
To exalt Christ by genuine love for Him (and for our “neighbors”).
